A prayer for our parish:
Almighty and ever living God, ruler of all things in heaven and earth, hear our prayers for this parish family. Strengthen the faithful, arouse the careless, and restore the penitent. Grant us all things necessary for our common life, and bring us all to be of one heart and mind within your holy Church; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Tanglewood Building Site and Celtic Cross Dedicated by Bishop Hampton

On Thursday, September 14, 2000, Holy Cross Day, Bishop Sanford Hampton dedicated the building site for Tanglewood and a Celtic Cross. Nearly 30 friends and supporters of the Fellowship gathered for the late afternoon rites. The weather, warm and dry, could not have been more perfect. Judith P. Yeakel, Langley, donor of the land on which Tanglewood will be built, read the lesson from Genesis 28, the story of Jacob and the stairway to heaven, which concludes: "How awesome is this place! This is none other than the House of God, and this is the gate of heaven."

Following the ceremonies at the property, Bishop Hampton celebrated Mass for Holy Cross Day at St. Augustine's, after which he and his wife Mari joined the group for a festive potluck supper coordinated by Liz Kershaw.

Brother David, Susan Sandri, Brother Richard and Cleveland Riley, Jr., watch as Bishop Hampton blesses the Celtic Cross at Tanglewood.

The Celtic Cross, cast from the original which was found in a church yard in Leeds, England, is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Arthur J. Seaman, late husband of a dear friend to the brotherhood, Emily Seaman.

For the Blessing ceremony, the Cross was placed in the center of the clearing, approximately where the house will be located; its permanent placement will be on a promontory overlooking the entry road to Tanglewood.
