A prayer for our parish:
Almighty and ever living God,
ruler of all things in heaven and earth, hear our prayers for
this parish family. Strengthen the faithful, arouse the
careless, and restore the penitent. Grant us all things
necessary for our common life, and bring us all to be of one
heart and mind within your holy Church; through Jesus Christ our
Lord. Amen. |

Members of St. Augustine's can be found in almost
every community program on the South End of Whidbey
Island. New volunteers are always welcome to carry
out our mission of serving the community in which we
live.
- Helping Hand
Helping Hand, located in the House of Hope, 816
Camano Ave., Langley, is a Christian community
service provided cooperatively by South Whidbey
churches. Helping Hand has two main functions:
- To provide family and individual counseling
- To refer people to other helping agencies
Each volunteer must receive the recommendation
of his or her pastor or priest. All monies come
from donations given in love from caring people
in the community.
- Good Cheer
Good Cheer is a thrift shop and food bank
located at 114 Anthes St., Langley. Good Cheer
raises money by selling donated clothing and
household items, as well as durable foodstuffs
to maintain its pantry. It contributes to the
community in two ways:
- Offers goods at reasonable prices
- Uses the proceeds to purchase food to
distribute to those in need
A basket placed near the baptismal font is used
for collection of food donation from
parishioners attending services.
- Hospital Guild
Although Whidbey General Hospital is not located
on the South End of the island, St. Augustine's
provides many of its volunteers.
- Senior Services of Island County
Located on Hwy 525 in Bayview, the Senior Center
provides a variety of activities for island
seniors, as well as operating a thrift store to
raise additional funds for its events.
Volunteers from St. Augustine's not only provide
funding for the Center, but also serve as
volunteers for activities and instructors for
educational offerings.
- South Whidbey Youth Center
The South Whidbey Youth Center provides
mentoring and tutorial assistance to students in
the South Whidbey School District, as well as
offering after school, weekend, holiday, and
summer activities for young people who might
otherwise find themselves at "loose ends" during
their free time. St. Augustine's members provide
funding for programs and serve as tutors and
mentors for participating students.
